About this journal

Aims Advances in Molecular Proteomics and Structural Biology (AMPSB) is a premier peer-reviewed open-access journal dedicated to bridging the critical gap between the static determination of protein structures and the dynamic functional landscape of the cellular proteome. The journal aims to provide a multidisciplinary forum for the dissemination of high-impact research that elucidates the molecular mechanisms underlying biological processes in both healthy and pathological states. By integrating high-resolution structural data with large-scale proteomic insights, AMPSB seeks to foster a comprehensive understanding of how protein architecture, interactions, and modifications dictate cellular behavior and systemic health. The journal prioritizes studies that not only describe molecular features but also offer profound mechanistic insights into the functional consequences of protein variability across different biological contexts. Scope AMPSB welcomes original research and theoretical contributions across a broad spectrum of molecular biology, with a particular emphasis on the synergy between structural biology and proteomics. The scope includes, but is not limited to, the following areas: • High-resolution structural determination of proteins and macromolecular complexes using cryo-electron microscopy, X-ray crystallography, and NMR spectroscopy. • Mass spectrometry-based proteomics for the identification, quantification, and characterization of proteomes in diverse biological systems. • Investigation of post-translational modifications (PTMs) and their role in regulating protein function and signaling pathways. • Computational structural biology, including molecular dynamics simulations and AI-driven protein structure prediction and folding analysis. • Chemical proteomics and the development of small-molecule probes to study protein-ligand interactions and drug-target profiles. • Structural insights into disease mechanisms, focusing on protein misfolding, aggregation, and the molecular basis of infectious and genetic diseases. • Proteogenomics and the integration of multi-omics data to understand the flow of information from genome to phenotype. • Interactions within the cellular milieu, including liquid-liquid phase separation and the assembly of membrane-less organelles. Article Types To support a diverse range of scientific communication, AMPSB accepts several article formats designed to accommodate various research depths: • Original Research Articles: Detailed reports of novel, high-impact experimental or theoretical findings. • Review Articles: Comprehensive overviews and critical syntheses of current trends and historical developments in the field. • Short Communications: Rapid publication of significant preliminary results or highly focused observations of immediate interest. • Methodological Advances: Detailed descriptions of new experimental, analytical, or computational techniques. • Perspectives: Forward-looking, opinion-driven pieces on the future direction or emerging challenges of specific subfields. • Data Notes: Concise reports focusing on the presentation and accessibility of high-quality proteomic datasets or structural coordinates. Audience The journal serves a global community of structural biologists, biochemists, molecular biologists, clinical researchers, and computational scientists. It is an essential resource for both academic investigators and industry professionals in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors who seek to stay informed about the latest breakthroughs in protein science, therapeutic target identification, and diagnostic innovation.
