Abstract
This study explored the clinical experiences of perioperative nursing Master's students in selected South African referral hospitals. A qualitative, explorative, and descriptive design was used utilizing purposive sampling to select 15 perioperative nursing Master's students. Data was collected through in-depth individual interviews via online platforms. Ethical considerations were maintained throughout the study. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the data. Four themes emerged: nature of clinical learning experiences, impact of clinical learning experiences, factors influencing clinical learning experiences, and suggestions to enhance clinical learning experiences. Sub-themes supporting each theme were also identified. These findings provide insight into the diverse clinical experiences of perioperative nursing Master's students. The study recommends developing structured clinical facilitation programs, standardizing clinical learning environments, and strengthening collaboration between academic institutions and clinical facilities to improve perioperative nursing students' clinical learning experiences.
