About
Aims
Frontiers in Crop Genomics and Molecular Breeding (FCGMB) is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to accelerating the development of resilient, high-yielding crop varieties through genomic and molecular approaches. Our mission is to serve as a premier platform for innovative research that translates genomic discoveries into practical breeding solutions, addressing global food security challenges. We prioritize studies that elucidate the genetic architecture of complex traits, harness CRISPR and other gene-editing technologies for crop improvement, and develop marker-assisted and genomic selection strategies. By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among geneticists, breeders, and agronomists, we aim to bridge the gap between laboratory breakthroughs and field application. FCGMB is committed to rigorous peer review, rapid publication, and open dissemination of data to maximize reproducibility and impact.
Scope
The journal covers a broad spectrum of topics, including but not limited to:
• Whole-genome sequencing, assembly, and annotation of crop species (including orphan and underutilized crops)
• Identification and cloning of genes and quantitative trait loci (QTL) controlling agronomically important traits (yield, stress tolerance, quality)
• CRISPR/Cas9 and other genome editing tools for functional validation and trait improvement
• Genomic selection and prediction models for breeding program optimization
• Marker-assisted backcrossing, forward breeding, and speed breeding strategies
• Population genomics, domestication history, and genomic diversity analyses
• Epigenomics, transposable element biology, and non-coding RNAs in crop regulation
• Integration of multi-omics data (transcriptomics, metabolomics, proteomics) with genomics
• Phenomics and high-throughput field evaluation linking genotype to phenotype
• Synthetic biology and gene stacking for durable resistance and nutritional enhancement
