About this journal
Aims The Global Health Security and Pandemics Review (GHSPR) is dedicated to advancing the scientific understanding and strategic management of health-related crises on a global scale. In an era of unprecedented connectivity, the threat of rapid-onset pandemics and the emergence of novel pathogens require a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach that integrates clinical expertise with robust policy frameworks. GHSPR serves as a premier venue for the publication of rigorous peer-reviewed research that addresses these challenges, aiming to foster resilience across national and international health systems. Our primary objective is to catalyze the development of innovative strategies for epidemic preparedness and biosecurity. By providing a platform where researchers, practitioners, and policymakers can share evidence-based insights, the journal facilitates better-informed global health interventions. We strive to highlight the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health, emphasizing the One Health paradigm as a cornerstone of modern disease surveillance and prevention. By prioritizing open-access dissemination, GHSPR ensures that critical findings are accessible to health workers and government officials in all regions, particularly those in high-risk, low-resource environments. Scope The journal invites submissions that explore a wide range of critical topics in the field of global health security. We are particularly interested in interdisciplinary studies that bridge the gap between laboratory science and field application. Our scope includes: • International Health Regulations (IHR) and the evolution of global health governance frameworks. • Genomic surveillance and the epidemiology of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases. • Strategic biosecurity protocols, laboratory safety, and the prevention of dual-use research concerns. • Crisis management frameworks for emergency health preparedness and rapid response logistics. • The socio-economic impacts of pandemics and the modeling of health system capacity during surges. • Digital health technologies for real-time contact tracing, outbreak prediction, and AI-driven diagnostics. • Vaccine and therapeutic equity, focusing on supply chain logistics and manufacturing in developing nations. • Ethical considerations in pandemic response, including data privacy, health equity, and mandatory health measures. Article Types GHSPR publishes a variety of content to support diverse scholarly and professional needs, ensuring that both theoretical advancements and practical applications are represented. Accepted formats include: • Original Research: High-impact primary studies and empirical data analysis. • Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses: Comprehensive assessments of existing literature. • Policy Briefs: Concise evaluations of current health policies with actionable recommendations. • Case Studies: Deep dives into specific outbreak responses or localized health security initiatives. • Technical Reports: Documentation of new diagnostic tools, surveillance software, or biosafety hardware. • Commentaries and Perspectives: Expert views on emerging trends and controversial topics in biosecurity. Audience The journal is designed for a broad spectrum of professionals, including epidemiologists, infectious disease specialists, public health policy analysts, biosecurity officers, and hospital administrators. It is also an essential resource for representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), international health agencies, and academic researchers focused on global security, medical anthropology, and disaster medicine.
