About this journal
Aims The International Journal of Literature, Culture, and Tradition (IJLCT) serves as a rigorous, open-access forum for interdisciplinary scholarship that critically examines the dynamic interplay among literary expression, cultural traditions, and gender equality. Rooted in the arts and humanities, the journal aims to illuminate how prose, poetry, and other literary forms both reflect and reshape societal norms regarding gender roles, cultural heritage, and historical memory. We seek contributions that engage with diverse global contexts—from canonical Western works to marginalized oral epics, from contemporary feminist poetics to traditional folklore—to foster nuanced dialogues on the transformative potential of literature. By prioritizing gender-equitable perspectives, IJLCT endeavors to amplify underrepresented voices and challenge hegemonic narratives, thereby advancing scholarly understanding and social impact. Scope IJLCT welcomes original research, critical reviews, and creative-critical interventions that address the following and related topics: • Gender and narrative structure in global prose and poetry • Cultural traditions as sites of gender contestation and affirmation • Feminist, queer, and postcolonial literary criticism across cultures • Oral traditions, performance, and gender identity • Comparative literature of gender equality and social justice • Literary representations of masculinity, femininity, and non-binary identities • Women’s writing, memory, and the archive of cultural traditions • Transcultural encounters and the politics of gender in travel literature • Children’s literature and the transmission of gender norms • Digital humanities, new media, and the reimagining of tradition and gender Article Types The journal accepts the following formats: • Original research articles (6,000–10,000 words) • Critical review essays (4,000–6,000 words) • Book reviews and review symposia (1,500–3,000 words) • Interviews with writers, scholars, or cultural practitioners • Special issue proposals (guest-edited collections) • Commentaries and polemical pieces (2,000–4,000 words) • Creative-critical hybrid works (poetry with analytical preface, etc.) Audience Scholars and students in literature, cultural studies, gender studies, and postcolonial studies; writers and poets engaged with tradition; cultural critics and policy makers working on gender equity; librarians and research institutions; and anyone invested in the intersections of literary art, cultural heritage, and social justice.
