About this journal

Aims The International Journal of Parametric and Algorithmic Design (IJPAD) serves as a premier interdisciplinary forum for the dissemination of innovative research at the intersection of computation, design, and engineering. It aims to advance the theoretical foundations and practical applications of parametric and algorithmic methodologies in architecture, engineering, and construction. The journal promotes a deep integration of data-driven processes, generative algorithms, and digital fabrication techniques, fostering a new paradigm of design that is adaptive, responsive, and performance-driven. IJPAD bridges the gap between computational design research and industrial practice, providing a platform for both established scholars and emerging practitioners to share cutting-edge developments. Scope The scope encompasses a wide range of topics including but not limited to: • Generative design and evolutionary algorithms in architecture • Algorithmic modeling and parametric systems • Data-driven design processes and performance-based optimization • Computational geometry and topology optimization • Digital fabrication and robotic construction • Building information modeling (BIM) and parametric interoperability • Machine learning for design exploration and analysis • Simulation and digital twin technologies for built environments • Interactive and responsive architectural systems • Ethics and sustainability in algorithmic design Article Types IJPAD accepts the following article formats: • Original Research Articles • Review Articles • Case Studies • Technical Notes • Software and Tool Reviews • Theoretical Frameworks • Tutorials and Educational Resources • Letters and Commentaries Audience Researchers, academics, and professionals in architecture, engineering, computational design, computer science, digital fabrication, and related fields.

Before you submit

• Manuscripts must be original, unpublished work not under consideration elsewhere.
• All authors must approve the submitted version and agree to the ICMJE authorship criteria.
• Declare all funding sources, conflicts of interest, and any AI assistance used.
• Ensure ethics approval and informed consent are stated where human or animal subjects are involved.

Manuscript structure

1. Title page (title, all authors with affiliations, corresponding author, ORCID iDs)
2. Abstract (structured where appropriate) and 3–8 keywords
3. Main text: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion
4. References in a consistent style; DOIs where available
5. Tables and figures supplied as separate, high-resolution files

Peer review

International Journal of Parametric and Algorithmic Design uses double-blind peer review. At least two independent reviewers assess each manuscript.

Licensing and fees

Articles are published open access under CC BY 4.0. The article processing charge is USD 400; waivers are available for authors from low-income countries.
