The *International Journal of Smart Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering* (IJSMIE) is a distinguished scholarly publication dedicated to advancing the theoretical foundations and practical applications at the nexus of intelligent manufacturing paradigms and contemporary industrial engineering principles. It serves as a premier international forum for original research and critical reviews that address the profound transformations occurring within global manufacturing ecosystems. IJSMIE encompasses a broad spectrum of topics, including but not limited to, the implementation and impact of Industry 4.0 and 5.0 technologies, cyber-physical systems, industrial internet of things (IIoT), artificial intelligence and machine learning for manufacturing process optimization, digital twin technologies, advanced robotics, automation, and additive manufacturing. The journal also rigorously examines supply chain resilience, lean manufacturing, sustainable manufacturing practices, human-robot collaboration, smart factory design, production planning and control, quality engineering, operations research, and advanced data analytics in industrial settings. Contributions exploring the synergistic integration of these domains to enhance productivity, efficiency, sustainability, and resilience across diverse manufacturing sectors are particularly encouraged. The journal accepts original research articles presenting novel methodologies and significant experimental results, comprehensive review articles offering critical perspectives, technical notes, and short communications. Submissions must demonstrate rigorous scientific inquiry, contribute meaningfully to the existing body of knowledge, and offer clear implications for future research or industrial practice. The target audience comprises academic researchers, industrial practitioners, engineers, and policymakers engaged in the evolution of advanced manufacturing systems and optimized industrial operations. This journal is committed to fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and accelerating innovation within the global manufacturing landscape.

Before you submit

• Manuscripts must be original, unpublished work not under consideration elsewhere.
• All authors must approve the submitted version and agree to the ICMJE authorship criteria.
• Declare all funding sources, conflicts of interest, and any AI assistance used.
• Ensure ethics approval and informed consent are stated where human or animal subjects are involved.

Manuscript structure

1. Title page (title, all authors with affiliations, corresponding author, ORCID iDs)
2. Abstract (structured where appropriate) and 3–8 keywords
3. Main text: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion
4. References in a consistent style; DOIs where available
5. Tables and figures supplied as separate, high-resolution files

Peer review

International Journal of Smart Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering uses double-blind peer review. At least two independent reviewers assess each manuscript.

Licensing and fees

Articles are published open access under CC BY 4.0. The article processing charge is USD 400; waivers are available for authors from low-income countries.
