About this journal
Aims The International Journal of Urban Digital Twins and Simulation (IJUDTS) is dedicated to advancing the science, technology, and application of digital twins and simulation models for urban environments. Our primary aim is to foster interdisciplinary research that bridges the gap between the conceptualization, development, implementation, and validation of high-fidelity virtual replicas of cities and their components. We seek to provide a premier platform for disseminating cutting-edge research that informs urban planning, enhances city management, optimizes infrastructure operations, and improves disaster preparedness and response strategies. IJUDTS encourages rigorous theoretical contributions, innovative methodological developments, and impactful case studies that demonstrate the transformative potential of urban digital twins. We are committed to open science principles, promoting reproducible research and accessible datasets wherever possible. Scope IJUDTS welcomes original research articles, review papers, and technical notes covering a wide spectrum of topics related to urban digital twins and simulation. The journal's scope includes, but is not limited to: • Digital twin architectures and frameworks for urban systems • Data acquisition, integration, and management for urban digital twins • Sensing, IoT, and geospatial technologies for urban digital representation • Simulation methodologies and modeling techniques for urban dynamics (e.g., traffic, energy, pedestrian flow, environmental impact) • High-fidelity 3D/4D modeling and visualization of urban environments • Validation, verification, and uncertainty quantification in urban simulations • Applications in urban planning, design, and policy-making • Use of digital twins for smart city operations and infrastructure management • Digital twins for climate change adaptation and urban resilience • Simulation-based urban disaster preparedness, response, and recovery • Ethical, social, and governance considerations of urban digital twins Article Types • Full Research Papers • Review Articles • Technical Notes • Case Studies • Perspective Articles Audience IJUDTS serves researchers, academics, engineers, urban planners, policymakers, city managers, software developers, and students engaged in the field of urban digital twins and simulation. This includes professionals and scholars from disciplines such as computer science, civil engineering, urban planning, geomatics, data science, environmental science, and public administration.
