About this journal

Aims The Journal of One Health and Zoonotic Diseases (JOHZD) aims to advance the understanding of zoonotic diseases through an integrated approach that bridges human, animal, and environmental health sciences. By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, the journal seeks to illuminate the complex ecological and evolutionary drivers of disease emergence, transmission, and persistence. Its primary goal is to provide a platform for high-quality research that informs evidence-based surveillance, prevention, and control strategies, ultimately reducing the global burden of zoonoses and strengthening health systems at the human-animal-environment interface. Scope JOHZD covers all aspects of zoonotic diseases and the One Health paradigm. The journal welcomes contributions that address the following topical areas: • Epidemiology and ecology of zoonotic pathogens • Surveillance systems and early warning networks for emerging zoonoses • Molecular mechanisms of cross-species transmission and host adaptation • Vector-borne zoonotic diseases and their environmental determinants • Foodborne zoonoses and food safety from farm to fork • Climate change and land-use impacts on zoonotic disease dynamics • Control strategies, including vaccination, biosecurity, and antimicrobial stewardship • One Health education, policy, and governance • Social and behavioral aspects of zoonotic disease prevention • Mathematical modeling and risk assessment of zoonotic spillover events Article Types The journal publishes a diverse range of formats to accommodate various research and scholarly contributions: • Original Research Articles • Reviews and Systematic Reviews • Short Communications • Case Reports and Case Series • Methodological Papers • Perspectives and Commentaries • Letters to the Editor • Data Descriptors Audience JOHZD is intended for an international audience of researchers, public health practitioners, veterinarians, wildlife ecologists, environmental scientists, policymakers, and students engaged in One Health and zoonotic disease work. The journal also serves professionals in government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector who are involved in disease surveillance, outbreak response, and health promotion at the human-animal-environment interface.
