Aims
Advances in Sustainable Building Materials and Structures (ASBMS) is a peer-reviewed open-access journal dedicated to advancing the science and engineering of eco-friendly construction materials and structural systems. Our primary aim is to disseminate high-quality research that addresses the critical environmental challenges of the built environment through innovative material solutions. We seek to bridge the gap between fundamental material science and practical structural applications, fostering a circular economy in construction. The journal prioritizes studies that reduce carbon footprint, enhance energy efficiency, and promote resource conservation across the lifecycle of building materials—from raw material extraction to end-of-life recycling. We also aim to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production). ASBMS serves as a platform for researchers, engineers, policymakers, and industry professionals to share interdisciplinary knowledge and contribute to the global transition toward sustainable infrastructure.
Scope
The journal covers a broad spectrum of topics pertaining to sustainable building materials and their structural applications, emphasizing novelty, performance, and environmental impact. We encourage submissions on the development, characterization, modeling, and application of materials that contribute to greener buildings and infrastructure. The scope includes but is not limited to:
• Bio-based and natural fiber composites for structural and non-structural elements
• Recycled aggregates and recycled aggregate concrete: processing, properties, and durability
• Geopolymer and alkali-activated materials as alternatives to Portland cement
• Novel sustainable binders, including limestone calcined clay cements and magnesium-based cements
